Applesauce
I love making applesauce! It is one of my favorite things to do! I bought a bushel of seconds at a nearby orchard, and Amanda had some apples left from when she and the kids picked apples a couple of weeks ago. Here are the jars, all washed and ready -

The lids and rings -

No pictures during the actual process, but here is what we have to show for our work - 10 quarts, 11 pints. Doesn't look like a lot, but that is about what we usually get from one bushel.

And I have these left over to make apple crisp for dessert for a church dinner tomorrow night - 10 people will be here!

I'm sure a good deep down feeling goes along with the beautiful filled jars! Way to go!
My day was sorta a bummer. Made a trip to Dover to Staples to get a HUGE print made of Queena and Ethans Quilt. They want me to bring along a 2ft. x 3ft. laminated picture for them. When I got to Staples I couldn't figure out why they couldn't get a reading on the jump drive I had brought along. Red face.....I took the wrong one. We leave in a little more then 2 weeks.
Give me the secret to the crisp if it turns crisp an d doesn't just lay there! Mine aren't doing well.
I do applesauce but stick it in the freezer. Sure smells good cooking.
I only started making applesauce a few yr. ago when Matt wanted to help cook something. He loved to put the apples through the apple peeler. I only made a few jars and although I put them in canning jars they really were not canned. I still only make a few jars at a time. I love the way the house smells when the apples are cooking down.
They look great! I can just imagine they must taste and smell wonderful! I really need to try my hand at it one of these days while apples are in season.
I don't make applesauce, but I LOVE making apple butter and it's just about time!
