  • Top blogs

I was noticing footprints on my blog, and even a friend request, from several people I didn't know or who hadn't come to my site from someone's site who I do know.  Then I could see that I made it onto Xanga's top blogs.  This has happened before.  I don't want to be one of Xanga's top blogs!  Anyone know how to stop that?

  • If you put your site on sign-in lock (or more tightly on friends lock), your posts will not go to top blogs. People will have to be signed in to see your posts, or, on friends lock, only the people whom you have 'friended' will be able to see them.

  • @slmret - Sign-in lock?  How do I do that?  I have hesitated to put it on friends lock because I don't mind visitors from sites that I know or from my facebook page.  How on earth do they choose what top blogs are?  Just whoever blogs that day?  My blogs are not all that exciting.

  • some times fame isn't a good thing

  • @piecedtreasures - Somewhere in the settings is one that you can say you only want people who are signed in to be able to view your site (similar to the friends lock setting, and maybe even right next to it).  It's less restrictive than friends lock, but protects you from people "coming in off the street!"I was getting lots of views from "Republic of Korea," and several others -- I put it on sign-in lock (didn't want my photos used for ads all over the far east!) and haven't had that problem since.  I think top blogs has something to do with how many people view, comment, recommend your site, and there is some sort of secret formula from there.  I almost never go to the 'front page' except accidentally, so don't follow that at all.

  • I just say no to the friend invites and ignore the whole thing and it quickly goes away.  Within a day you'll be off the top blog list and back to normal.  :)   I understand totally!

  • @slmret - I was having tons of "visitors" from Korea as well.  This was a couple years ago, but that's when I went on sign-in lock.  I haven't had a problem with it since - but I don't blog as much as I used to either.
