Stormy night
What does a mother do when her daughter, who is deaf, texts from Colorado, that they are under a tornado warning and that she could feel the storm going on outside? Pray! It was close to midnight here, and I had just finished up a book I was reading. Betsy knew what to do in a tornado warning - stay low, away from windows, etc - but of course if there had been a warning siren, she couldn't have heard it. Andrew was at work. Their power was on, the TV was working, Luna, her hearing dog, was asleep, and I assume that if there had been any kind of sirens, she would have alerted Bets, even though, to my knowledge, she hasn't been trained to alert to tornado sirens. I texted Bets to stay calm, pray, and remember that God is faithful. Then I fell asleep praying as well. And this morning, there was a facebook status from Andrew that they survived the storm. Praise the Lord!
I know a LOT of people in that area of Colorado now, and many of my friends have family members there. The pictures on the Weather Channel online of Denver, Colorado Springs, and then the northern areas, where Greeley is, show a very severe stormy night, although I have not heard of anyone hurt in the storms.
Does anyone out there have news to share?

Tornados are so frightening. I'm glad Betsy and Andrew are okay.
So much for you to worry about, and so much to lay at the feet of Jesus! I love that you, "Fell asleep praying", it shows where you put your trust. Happy to hear all is well with Betsy this morning. Sweet that she contacted her mom when needed, even when it was late.
So glad they are okay! One of my good friends from high school, his family lived in Joplin. They lost their entire house and most of their stuff in the tornado. His wife was at work, and he grabbed his two daughters and ran to the bathroom, threw them in the tub and lay on top of them. A wall fell on them, and ended up shielding them from flying debris. God was truly with them that day! It's so scary to be in a tornado.
Juliepaulsen said my words to the "T". So glad that worked out. Oh to claim HIS promises in times like that!
So glad all is well and we can claim our protection through Him. We serve an awesome God!
So glad she's alright. It must be scary knowing she couldn't hear the sirens, and that her dog hasn't been trained for that. So glad that God kept the tornado away from her house!
