  • Home for Christmas!

The kids are all here now for Christmas!  Suzanne got in tonight.  Betsy and Andrew have been here since last night.  Today was a day of pre-Christmas busyness!  And tonight, while I baked cookies, Betsy and Andrew wrapped a lot of the presents that I hadn't yet gotten to!  Thanks, kids!!!  It was such a big help!

On a sadder note - please pray with me for several families who have lost loved ones this week - all unexpected and tragic.  One young woman I had only met once, but I saw on Facebook that she died suddenly this morning.  Another family that is very special to us lost several family members in a plane crash in another state.  May God pour out His grace and mercy to these families in the days ahead.

And may God help me to appreciate every day the blessings I have in Him!

Tomorrow, Jim's parents are driving in from Pennsylvania, and we hope they will be here in time for a family dinner!

  • Tragedy doesn't stop for holidays.  I hate when bad things happen around the holidays.  It is always a hard time for families when they have that to remember each year.  Guess it doesn't make it any easier no matter what time of year but mother died between Thanksgiving and Christmas so I know it is hard for a few years.

So glad your kiddos are all home safely and hope Jim's parents get there in time for all the festivities.

  • There is nothing more fun than having all our children at home for a holiday or special occasion. Enjoy! Somehow tragedy at Christmas seems more tragic.

  • I also have just heard some very sad news from a dear family in our community....so poignant to get this news at Christmas. It should make us hold our own loved ones more closely and not, for a minute, take for granted how blessed we are. Hope Jim's family arrive safely and that you have an especially happy time all being together!!!

  • this is my first year WITHOUT my family intact.
    Sigh.
But its all part of them growing up, right?

We had a tragedy here as well- a motor cycle accident. I didn't know him personally, just knew OF him.

Have a very Merry CHRISTmas dear friend.

  • It seems like tragedy should stop during the holiday season... but it doesn't (I lost an older brother between Thanksgiving and Christmas one year).  I had several years of blue Christmases after that- such a damper on the joy of the season.  Even  so, it makes us respect Christ's sacrifice and love- His gift of Himself - all the more.
