  • Spicy Spiral Table Runner

I took a quilt class today to make a Spicy Spiral Table Runner.  It was a great class, and the best part was, we finished the quilt top in one class!!  I wanted to make a table runner in fabric colors that would go well with our new dining room/family room.  I picked some fabrics, looked at others, wondered whether I should use 8 fat quarters the way the pattern called for, or the 4 going in both directions that I found while I was traveling.  I finally decided to go with my original plan, and I am very happy with it!

Here is my table runner top laid out, before I finished sewing the two halves together -

And here is the finished top, except that the edges still need to be trimmed and rounded off -

It has the blue/browns of the new furniture in it - you just don't see it very well in these pictures.

Some of the others had bright, bold colors that looked fabulous!

We made this by sewing strips together and then using a wedge ruler to cut the wedges, then sewing them together.  The middle part of the cutting process looked like this -

Lots of fun!  Now I will need to finish trimming, sandwich the top and bottom with the batting, and sew it together, then it gets quilted!  Good thing that I am going to quilt camp in a few weeks.  That will be a perfect time to finish it up!

I decided to try and get a closer shot of the fabric I used. . .
